Volunteering
As a volunteer at Dale Cottages, you can engage directly with one of our residents, lend a hand in our facilities or with our lifestyle programs, or connect with a senior member of our community. The rewards of volunteering include:
- Knowing you've made a difference, in individual’s lives and in your community
- The opportunity to make new friends
- Develop new skills and uncover hidden talents
- Explore your career options
- Enhance your resume
- Learn something new
There are a number of opportunities to volunteer at Dale Cottages in a variety of roles including:
Driving
There are volunteering opportunities to drive our buses for local outings for the Greendale Community Centre. Or to drive both Village and J E Murray Home residents to and from appointments. These appointments could be local or as far as Fremantle or Perth. We also require bus drivers (MR Licence) for weekly outings for the J E Murray Home residents.
Dale Cottages Inc. manages the Greendale Centre which provides a range of activities to seniors within the community as well as a lunch service Monday to Friday (except public holidays). Volunteers assist with the money collection and serving of the meals at the Greendale Centre dining room. Time required: a maximum of one and half hours a day - Monday, Wednesday or Friday.
J. E. Murray Home
Spend some time with our residents chatting, reading or even taking a walk with them around the gardens; companionship is something we all need. You could help in the kiosk or help our Occupational Therapy Assistants who are always looking for enthusiastic helpers to assist in planned activities such as Bingo, Craft, Movies afternoons and Footy Tipping.
Whether it is an hour a week or an hour a month all help is appreciated.
Just like any place of employment there will be forms to fill out and guidelines to follow and all necessary in house training will be given. Due to an amendment to the Aged Care Act of 2007, a National Police Clearance must also be provided for volunteers who work at J E Murray Home, however this can be arranged by Dale Cottages Office Staff.

TESTIMONIAL - VOLUNTEERING AT DALE COTTAGES
I came to live in Dale Cottages ten months ago. To begin with I felt quite lonely at times as I got used to my new surroundings.
Then I decided to put my hand up to Volunteer. It has made such a difference. Now I am busy two mornings a week from 9 till 11. I really enjoy it and it gives structure to my week. I have go to know so many more people and feel part of the Community.
There are all sorts of volunteers needed, some facing the public and others in background positions. All are equally important to the overall running of the facility. Come and join us!
